Completing Yoga Teacher Training & Launching My First Yoga Group
This is a continuation from a recent post, Celebrating the Wins of 2023! Expanding on the first win mentioned: Completing Yoga Teacher Training.
Welcome back to my "3 Wins for the New Year" series! You already know that I completed my yoga teacher training, and I’m so thrilled to share what’s next—launching my very first Yoga-Based Therapy Group for Black Women!
This idea has been brewing ever since I started the Subtle® Yoga Teacher Training for Behavioral Health Professionals. Designing a Yoga-Based Therapy Group was my final project, and it was something I felt deeply passionate about from the start.
I’ve always believed in the power of yoga to relieve symptoms of depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and stress. But what really sparked my interest was exploring how yoga could also be used for collective and racial trauma recovery. We know that Black women often carry the weight of systemic racism and gender discrimination, and I wanted to create a space specifically for them—a place where they can heal, connect, and grow through the practice of yoga.
The training was intense but rewarding. We had months of deep learning, practice classes (think of them as yoga teacher dress rehearsals!), and finally, our big projects. I poured my heart into creating this group, and after receiving lots of great feedback, I’m excited to see it come to life.
I’m officially launching the Yoga-Based Therapy Group for Black Women (this month!) in September 2024. This group is designed to be a nurturing space where Black women can connect with their inner strength, find peace, and build resilience.
And just to add a little more sparkle to this win, I’ve also:
Joined the Black Yoga Teachers Alliance, which has been an incredible community.
Earned my Peer Support Guide certification through Y12SR Yoga of 12 Step Recovery.
Received my Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT) credential through Yoga Alliance.
This has been an amazing journey, and I can’t wait to see where it leads next. Hope you’ll join me along the way!
Take care,
